Sophie is 6

In schools everywhere, you break out the A.A. Milne for the 6 birthdays (Now We Are Six)…which is kind of fitting, as Sophie recently read The Complete Tales and Poems of Winnie the Pooh, and asked for a stuffed Pooh for her birthday – which she received. :)

She’s starting to be a bit more like a big kid, but the little one remains as well. I’ve been meaning to write down her more idiosyncratic pronunciations, for example – a little kid thing that gets especially interesting when your little kid reads like a big one. Some favorites: prentzel, popstickle, yogrit and suspific.

She is very good at committing to a bit:

Sophie’s favorite things at 6, according to her:

Food – falafel, pizza, fruit and cheese, sushi, pancakes and watermelon

Books: “that’s really hard!” Boxcar Children, Eloise books, Disney fairies books, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Shel Silverstein books

Music: the Science Fair CD, Tori Amos, Kat Wright, Robyn, Frozen soundtrack, Lennon and Maisy Stella

Things to do: “that’s really really hard!!! Go to Disney World! Eat meals! Go to Buttered Noodles and Kid City if they were open! Go swimming in the pool. Go camping. Go to burger night and summervale! Draw and read. Especially draw and read.”

Movies and shows: peg + cat, Mr. Rogers, Boxcar Children, Winnie the Pooh

Color: very bright red

Here’s a sample of her sense of humor at six: at Summervale, she asked for the face painting to be on her arm and for a turtle pooping rainbows design. That is what she got!

Happy birthday, kiddo. We are so glad to know you.
